Urban Bodger.
In this version of the Bodger we want to make up a modern foot operated pole lathe to recycle hoarding from the olympic site, into stools using an American hobbiests technique called ringmakeing. An urban nomadic recycling project.

The term bodger originally meant making things from what was at hand. A Bodger was a nomadic rural artisan that made elements of turned furniture in the forest by setting up camp within a stand of timber and making a pole lathe to work on and a bender to sleep in. When he had exhausted the stand he would take is turned poles to the local factory to sell.

Architrope also has another design using a pole lathe, to make chairs using recycled water pipe from the current London Victorian water main replacement scheme.
HOMEarchitrope_atlas.htmlarchitrope_atlas.htmlshapeimage_109_link_0
these projects also reference the vernacular sculptures that one sees in rural areas made out of plough shares, or agricultural material.
